Audrey Hepburn is probably my favorite actress, I love her.
But for some reason I had never seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s
…until this morning (thank goodness for Netflix Instant)!
The movie was amazing, I love the classic look that old movies have and Breakfast at Tiffany’s was no different. I plan on buying a copy of it, and My Fair Lady (probably my favorite movie) the next time I’m able.
I loved Holly, in some way, she reminded me distantly of Eliza Doolittle. Plus Audrey’s song in the movie “Moon River”, that she actually sang, unlike most of her songs in My Fair Lady, was beautiful.
For some reason the story of a poor girl turned “golddigger” intrigued me. I thoroughly enjoyed her “weather reports” as if any of us really believed she didn’t know that she was passing along information.
And the scene where her an Paul go to Tiffany’s to get the ring engraved was too funny, I mean seriously something under $10 at Tiffany’s…best of luck to you.
Maybe somewhere deep down I related to her story. The story of a girl who wanted so desperately to put her last behind her. Even though as she stated she “is still Lula Mae”.
Not to mention that ending, an ending that showed no matter how much you want to change yourself or reinvent yourself as a “Holly” in the end we are all still “Lula Maes”.
